Dear WSD Colleagues,

Teachers can play a crucial role in helping substitutes use Blocksi effectively by providing a quick overview of its key features and ensuring they have the necessary access. Since substitutes may be unfamiliar with the tool, a brief walkthrough can empower them to manage student devices confidently, maintain a focused learning environment, and minimize distractions. By offering support, teachers help ensure continuity in classroom expectations and a smoother experience for both students and substitutes.

Tech Tip Tuesday: Blocksi for Substitutes

Blocksi is a classroom management tool that helps monitor and guide student device usage. Teachers can give substitutes temporary access to Blocksi while they are away.

What's on Blocksi?

  • View student screens in real-time to ensure they stay on task.

  • Send messages to students for redirection or assistance.

  • Block or allow websites to limit distractions.

  • Lock screens when you need full attention.

How to add a Substitute

Log into Blocksi – The regular teacher signs into their Bloksi dashboard.

Go to the Class Settings – Select the class that the substitute will be managing.

Add a Co-Teacher or Substitute – Look for an option to add another teacher (this may be under "Manage Teachers" or "Co-Teachers").

Enter the Substitute’s WSD Email – Use the substitute’s school email address to grant them access.

Set Permissions – Choose what level of control the substitute will have (e.g., viewing screens, blocking sites).

Save Changes – Once added, the substitute should now be able to access the class through Blocksi.
